How fast can you actually build a WordPress site for a client?
The build itself is minutes: the export is generated from a design the client has already approved and content already pulled from their existing site and Google listing, and installing it is four uploads. What sets the pace is how quickly they say yes — which is why the mockup comes before the quote rather than after it.
The month a small website project usually takes is not build time. It is the wait for content, the wait for feedback on a design nobody has seen yet, and the wait for a decision that was never going to be made by email. Removing those three waits is what makes a day realistic — the building was never the slow part.
The three waits, removed
Not a faster build. Fewer things to wait for.
No content request
Their services, reviews, hours, logo and photos come from their own site and Google listing.
No design round
They approved the mockup before they paid. That mockup is what exports.
No setup
Activating the theme creates the pages, the templates and the field groups.
Where does the time normally go?
Waiting for content, and waiting for a decision on a design the client cannot picture. Both disappear when you show them a finished-looking site built from their own branding before you have asked them for anything.
Search a town and trade
Scored, with the findings behind each score.
Send the report and mockup
Their branding, their reviews, their photos.
Export on approval
Four ZIPs, generated from the same design.
Install and hand over
Ordinary WordPress hosting.
A realistic day
Assuming the client answers.
- Morning — run the search, score the market, pick the ones worth an hour
- Late morning — send the report and the mockup link
- Afternoon — they say yes — export and install on their hosting
- Before you finish — fix the flagged copy, delete the starter posts, hand over
Questions
Is a day realistic, honestly?
The parts we control are minutes. The part we do not is whether the client replies the same day — so treat a day as the floor, not the promise. What it removes is the month of waiting that has nothing to do with building.
What still needs a person?
Reading the README and rewriting the copy the scraper flagged as questionable, deleting or rewriting the starter blog posts, and the design judgement no export makes for you.
What if the business has no website to scrape?
The export falls back to generic copy for their trade and lists every placeholder in the README, so you know exactly which fields to write. The site is still built.
Does rushing it show?
It would if the site were a theme demo with the client’s name dropped in. It is not — the content is theirs, which is the thing that usually takes the month.
